Giselle Sweater

I havedecided recently that it is about time I knitted something for myself, and after a visit to Abahkan in Manchester I couldn't resist this Sirdar Giselle Aran Yarn that was on sale. I bought 13 50g balls for £19.50, plus the pattern book.
This is the jumper with cabled sleeves that I am knitting.

and my progress so far is looking pretty good even if i do say so myself. I am knitting the jumper slightly longer than in the pattern. I will probsbly have to wear a long sleeve t shirt underneath it as the copper metallic thread running through the yarn is slightly scratchy.

Baby Theme

I seem to be on a bit of a baby theme these days, which at the moment suits me fine, baby items are quick to finish and I get an immense feeling of satisfaction seeing the babies wearing them.

Projects that I have recently completed are four little jumpers that I made for my Grandson Michael.
The top left one was knitted in Ice DK yarn and the pattern was out of a magazine, i have to say I wasn't to keen on knitting with this yarn and it now adorns a toy elephant! See picture below. top right was knitted in Peter Pan Baby Merino DK yarn and was a Guernsey  sweater pattern out of Love Knitting For Baby Magazine Issue ? I need to find this magazine to knit it again as it died a horrible death in my daughters washing machine! I have loads of this yarn to use up, which i dont mind as it is an absolute dream to knit with.
I think the pattetn was a king Cole pattern, but I made it quite some time ago so can't remember. The Bottom right photo is in a  summer Sirdar DK yarn, and the pattern is King Cole 3511.

This morning Ifinished knitting a matinee jacket formy new niece Daisy. It is from apretty old Sirdar pattern that a friend gave me. I made it in Woolcrafts Baby care prints DK yarn in shade 642. I just shows the old patterns are still good with todays modern yarns.

Another project I made a couple of weeks ago was this lovely coat and hat made for my friends granddaughter on her 1st birthday. I knitted it in King Cole Cherish DK yarn in colour Tropical. This was an excellent yarn to knit wit, it was very smooth and I would highly recommend it. My daughter is also knitting with it and loves it also. The pattern was King Cole 4195.
Some weeks ago in April I knitted a little jacket for the same friends grandsons 3rd birthday. I knitted that one in Stylecraft Summer Breeze DK yarn. The pattern is the one on the front of King Cole Book 6.

For my Grandson Michael I also made a jacket out of the same book using Peter  Pan Baby Merino DK yarn again. I cant wait until he grows into this one!

The last two I have made recently are little jackets that i made using a Purl and Jane Leighton Jacket pattern. I made this in the same Stylecraft Breeze yarn in blue as the previous jacket, but I dont seem to have a picture of that one, but I also made it in lilac for my new baby niece Daisy. This is such an easy pattern to knit and goes from Newborn to 6 years.

Until I started writing this post l didn't realise quite how many different things I had knitted in the last couple of months. Keeps me out of trouble, and myhand out the biscuit tin.

Lastbut not least is my current project which is a onsie for my Grandson which I am knitting in Sirdar Baby Crofter from a Sirdar Nursery Knits Book 487.

I will post a picture of the finished garment shortly.
Happy knitting everyone I'm getting back to my knitting and my marathon Terminator films day xx

New Grandson

Well I have had quite a busy week this week. On Monday I became a Nanny for the first time when my baby grandson Michael was born weighing in at 9lb 6oz.
He is absolutely adorable xx

The first picture is Michaels first meeting with Billy Cat, our cat of nearly 15 years. If you are wondering what happened to Billys ears, he had them removed a couple of years ago due to cancer. He was a bit of a sun worshipper and frazzled them to a crisp on  many occasions.
Needless to say all the excitement and cuddles put my knitting on hold for a few days.

I am sure that Michael will be seen in many more of my blog posts in the future modelling my knitting projects.

On that note I decided to start knitting some booties today using a free pattern that I found through Pintrest for baby Uggs.
they are very easy to knit and I managed to get one finished just before my grandson turned up to meet our cat.

I am knitting them in Knitcole trends by Adriafil colour 047. This is a dk weight yarn and I am knitting them on 3.75mm needles.
It is 100% Lana Merino virgin wool and is lovely and soft and is very smooth to knit with on my bamboo Knit Pro knitting needles.
I would definitely recommend both the wool and the pattern.I have a couple of other colours to use yet, I got them on offer at my local wool shop Knitty Noras in Chorley,  Lancashire .

Happy knitting,  Heather xx

Sunday 19 July 2015

Today I have been looking through my wool stash (which is quite large) and coming across various works in progress which I had put asidefor a while or just completly forgotten about!

I will start with posting a few of them over the next few days.

The first one that I am keen to finish is a shawl I am knitting in SCHOPPEL Crazy Zauberall sock yarn in colour 1537.
The yarn is 75% virgin wool and 25% Nylon.  The shawl is knitted in individual mitred squares on 4mm needles that are knitted together as you go along. I just love the rich autumn colours. I bought the kit for this shawl last November at the Knit and Stitch show in Harrogate. The pattern is from www.knitncaboodle.co.uk www.knitncaboodle.co.uk
Hi, I have a bit of an addiction with knitting and thought i would start to share some of my knitting adventures with the rest of the knitting world.
